On Friday, Angel Reese gave a shoutout to her former LSU teammate Hailey Van Lith on X. Reese's message on her page created a buzz on social media as it piqued fans' hopes about a potential link-up at Chicago via the WNBA draft.

One fan responded to her tweet, which resulted in others speculating that Van Lith could join Angel Reese at the Chicago Sky.

"My queens. HVL You are a Chicago Sky!!! God do it for me!"

Other fans came on and added to the buzz:

"So happy for her!," a fan wrote.
"Ya’ girl showed up and showed out!," another fan wrote.
"Yes... but don't you think it's possible to trade the #3 pick for Rickea and grab HVL after that in the draft?," a fan commented.
"Good evening angel, is HVL getting drafted by chicago sky?," another fan said.
"Love how Angel said even though her & HVL weren’t super close, she always made sure she felt safe & comfortable at LSU. Understood she was in a new place, new position on the court, wasn’t performing as well as she did at Louisville but did all she could to support her," a fan added.

Van Lith had an impressive game against Notre Dame on Friday, where she led the TCU Horned Frogs to a 76-68 win. During that game, she scored 21 points on 53.3% shooting from the field.

Meanwhile, Angel Reese shone for the Chicago Sky in 2024. She was the first rookie to record multiple back-to-back double-doubles and her rivalry with Caitlin Clark brought a lot of attention to the WNBA. Although Clark pipped her to the coveted WNBA Rookie of the Year, Reese can hold her head high.

The Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark rivalry started all the way back in the AAUs. Speaking to Complex on Thursday, Reese went into detail about the longevity of their rivalry:

"I think it's just competition, it's been competition since college. Being able to play against Caitlin, I've been playing against Caitlin since we were probably in eighth or ninth grade. We both were competitive in AAU," Angel Reese said. (14:33)
"I went to Maryland, she went to Iowa so we competed there and then finally being able to compete in the national championship. People don't know the legacy of us being able to play against each other for a really long time," she added.

While social played a part in making the rivalry intense as explained by Reese, both players did bring their A-games in their rookie seasons. This will likely be something to watch out for, year after year.
