WNBA fans went after Washington Mystics guard Brittney Sykes over her most recent tweet. The player took to X/Twitter to share a message against the bad behavior of some fans on social media.
"Even if you don’t WANT the responsibility …. You STILL have a responsibility! Speak up," Sykes said. "The W has no place for the sh*t that’s being displayed or said to women in our league. Don’t use players to hide behind true intentions of being mean, nasty, and racist. It’s disgusting," she tweeted on Wednesday.
After a couple of hours, the post went viral and plenty of fans took to social media to call Brittney Sykes out.
"What's disgusting is this bulls**t, you're an embarrassment, no name no nothing, typical WNBA and many of it's players, no wonder it was failing and irrelevant, you all need to look in the mirror to see where the real problems lie," a seemingly upset fan said.
"Put a name to it and say with your chest out.. because if you talking about CC you will be proven wrong in 1.5 seconds. And Fever fans was fu*****g with you, but you want to push victim agendas. CC is 22 what about her mental health," another fan said.
"How about instead of always wanting everyone to speak up yall just stfu for once. Trying to gaslight fans to hide behind to push your own agendas," another fan said.
Others were confused about what Brittney Sykes was referring to, but a couple of them were convinced she was talking about Sky players getting harassed by their own fans.
"What are we talking about? Are we talking about the Sky players i saw on a podcast?" one fan wondered.
Looking at the Chicago Sky situation fans referred to in Brittney Sykes' tweet
After people saw what Brittney Sykes wrote on X, plenty speculated about who she was talking about or to. As many said, this could be a message against Sky fans who turned against Dana Evans and Isabelle Harrison during the season.
In the season finale press conference, the pair teared up while discussing the situations they endured during the season, saying that some of their fans went in on them at one point.
They labeled the situation as 'disgusting' while saying they never experienced anything like it. Chicago went from being one of the most entertaining teams in the league early in the season to one of the biggest underperformers after the Olympic break, losing the eighth spot in the league in the final regular season games.
