LA Sparks vs Chicago Sky last game
The Sparks and Sky met on Aug. 17 at the Staples Center. The Sky won that contest 90-86 after a close finish in a successful comeback. The game seemingly was a neck-and-neck contest after the first quarter, with only a point separating the teams as the Sky led 26-25.
However, LA took control in the next two quarters behind a collective effort. The Sparks regained a four-point lead entering halftime and extended the advantage by 12 in the final quarter. However, the Sparks had a disastrous stretch in the clutch as the Sky limited them to 12 points.
Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso and Lindsay Allen scored six points apiece to lead the comeback in the final 10 minutes. The Sky shot 11 of 17 in the frame while holding the Sparks to a measly 3 of 17. Reese dropped 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Cardoso contributed 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Sparks dominated the first three quarters behind Kia Nurse's 16-point effort, while Rickea Jackson (13 points) and four others tallied 10+ points.
Dearica Hamby wasn't among them. The Sparks star had an underwhelming game as she produced only seven points, shooting 2 of 8. Hamby will be key for the Sparks to cause an upset against the Sky.
Angel Reese and Co. - 5-point favorites. Chennedy Carter will return after a lengthy absence, further elevating the team's shot at improving to 12-22 and securing a playoff berth.
