South Asian Games 2019: Volleyball Day 3 - India consolidate the top spot in both categories

The third day of Volleyball event at the 13th South Asian Games witnessed Indian men's and women's teams finishing at the top spots in their respective categories. The knockout matches have got confirmed after the group stages, currently taking place in the Dasharath Rangashala covered hall.

The Pakistani women's team couldn't make it to the Games on time. As a result, they got eliminated from the tournament in the Group B standings.

In Group A women's category, India remained unbeaten to gain the top spot. They defeated Bangladesh 3-0 in the opening clash of the day with three straight sets (25-8, 25-11, 25-9).

The Sri Lankan women's team also topped the Group B chart with a one-sided victory 3-0 over the Maldives. They clinched the match with straight sets (25-15, 25-18, 25-14).

In the men's category, the hosts Nepal got an early exit from the competition as India defeated them 3-0. It was a dominant victory for India with (25-15, 25-13, 25-16) to book their semi-final berth heading into the knockouts.


As the women's group-stages matches have got concluded, here are the semi-final matches lined up for the Volleyball women's event of 13th South Asian Games.

Semi-Final 1: India vs. Maldives (05:15 PM, 30th November)

Semi-Final 2: Nepal vs. Sri Lanka (07:15 PM, 30th November)
