Winter sports icon and President of the Olympians Association of India, Shiva Keshavan, who recently won the gold medal for the fourth time in his career at the Asian Luge Championship, heaped praises on Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, who had bailed him out of a tough situation.

The decorated veteran tweeted:

Rathore, soon responded to Keshavan's tweet, stating that he was glad the Ministry could be of help to him.

In case you didn’t know…

Shiva Keshavan has represented India at the Winter Olympics five times and is now gearing up for his sixth Olympic Games, which is going to take place in Pyeongchang. His laurels and achievements are not known to many, as his sport does not get attention like mainstream sports in our country do.

The heart of the matter

The experienced warhorse was the sole participant from India at the recently concluded Asian Luge Championship which was held in Altenberg, Germany, where he was the defending champion managed to clinch the gold for the fourth time in his career.

He thanked the Sports Minister in his tweet, calling him the most efficient sports minister, and appreciated the efforts Rathore took to help him out when he was in trouble. It was also heartening to see the Minister's prompt response to Keshavan's tweet.

What’s next?

Shiva is now preparing for the 23rd Winter Olympics which will take place in Pyeongchang, South Korea from February 9-25th, 2018.

It is quite a delight to see the sports minister help out our athletes in times of trouble, and give them all the support and assistance he can to help them out of precarious situations.

Rathore, a former Olympian himself has been working very hard to improve the state of various sports in the country, which encourages budding sportsmen to train hard and make the country proud on the international stage.
