Reports: Arsenal complete Gonzalo Higuain deal

Real Madrid CF v RCD Mallorca - La Liga

Various sources state that Arsenal have entered into an agreement of personal terms with Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain.

The Argentinian seemed more like a luxury than requirement to the La Liga giants, especially when they had their minds and funds fixed on bagging Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao.

Spanish source Sport.es said that Arsenal and Real Madrid have reached an agreement over the importing of Higuain over to London this summer.

Arsenal is expected to spend a fat €22 million package for the 25-year old-striker, who, according to reports, has agreed to these figures, which means that the deal is almost as good as done.

Ever since the advent of Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid, the striker’s place in the core team has been indecisive especially under Karim Benzema’s growing shadow.

Last week, Real Madrid general manager Jose Angel Sanchez said “In a great club like Real [Madrid], we believe we need two number nines of a high level. We have Benzema and Higuain. Higuain will leave, Benzema will stay and two others will come.” leading to suppositions regarding his future. The deal as of now is what looks like a perfect move for the Bernabéu striker, who will otherwise warm the bench with Real Madrid vying to sign the likes of Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani.

Though Arsenal has a few strikers in the squad, with Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud’s lack of consistency, this expensive move may prove to be a good price to pay for a player of his calibre.
