Video: NBA stars win Yao Foundation charity match

Yao Ming and his former teammates from the Houston Rockets reunited at a charity game in Beijing, China on Monday, in the same venue of the 2008 Olympic basketball final.

The third Yao Foundation Charity Game was played at the Mastercard Center in Beijing on Monday.

Retired Chinese basketball star Yao Ming launched the first charity game in Beijing in 2007 with another NBA star Steve Nash.

Monday’s game saw the Chinese National Basketball team versus the NBA Stars, including Joakim Noah, Metta World Peace, Kyle Lowry, George Hill, and Luis Scola.

It was good practice for the Chinese team as they prepare for the 2013 FIBA Asia Championships, which will be played in Manila in early August.

The match was a reunion of sorts of the 2007/2008 Houston Rockets team.

Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming’s role was not playing but coaching the NBA Stars team.

McGrady played CBA last season and he almost won a ring at the NBA championships this year with the San Antonio Spurs.

Yao Ming, the owner of Shanghai Sharks, hopes to work with T-Mac, leaving the window open to sign his former teammate for the Shanghai basketball club.

The third quarter of the game was played by the children of migrant workers in Beijing, on behalf of the Chinese team and the NBA Stars.

The game ended with a win for the NBA Stars as they defeated the Chinese Basketball squad 61-58.
