German driver Nico Hulkenberg’s manager Werner Heinz is unhappy with the Ferrari officials for the way they ended their negotiation. Hulkenberg had been trying to land a contract with the Italian team for next year as a possible replacement for the outgoing Felipe Massa.

The Maranello-based team were said to have been seriously considering Hulkenberg for the driver’s seat. But after they signed Kimi Raikkonen, they decided to end their negotiation with the German.

What has irked Heinz is the way Ferrari ended it. The negotiation was ended with a text message from Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicalli.

“After two months of negotiations, I expected at least a phone call,” Heinz was quoted as saying by Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport.

“Domenicali sent us a SMS at 22.50 on Tuesday,” he added.

“The contracts went back and forth and in the end only had to be signed,” Heinz told the German newspaper Bild.

However, the German and his manager have not given up hopes yet. They are currently looking for the soon-to-be vacant seat in Lotus after Raikkonen leaves. They also are considering a possible comeback to Hulkenberg’s former team Force India if the Lotus deal does not work out.
