Asian Games 2014: Vikas Gowda claims silver in discus throw

Vikas Gowda

Vikas Gowda added another silver to India’s tally as he settled for second place in the discus throw finals at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium on Tuesday. Gowda was leading the fray after a throw of 62.58m in his second attempt. However, the Iranian Ehsan Hadadi took the lead with a throw of 65.11 m in the second round.

The Indian’s next attempt was a disappointing 60.77 m. Hadadi never looked back as he posted 64.89, 63.77 and 64.47 in his last three attempts. Gowda, on the other hand fouled on all those three occasions and had to be content with a second place finish.

Gowda had won the gold medal at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. He is supported by Olympic Gold Quest.
