One of the best athletes to have emerged out of the country, Vikas Goda first burst onto the scene at the World Junior Championships where he finished 8th and three years later won the silver medal at the Asian Championships in Incheon, which gave a serious kick-start to his career. After a lull few years,Gowda made a roaring comeback at the Asian Games in Guangzhou in 2010, winning the bronze medal and then backed that with a silver medal each at the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Championships. After yet another low phase, he made another comeback, this time in Pune at the Asian Athletics Championships, where he won the Gold and then a year later, won his second Commonwealth Games medal in Glasgow, this time, a Gold and then won his second Asian Games silver at Incheon a few months later. He successfully defended his Asian Championships Gold in Wuhan last year and will now look to win his maiden Olympic medal at Rio in a few months time.
