Reports: Aamer's comeback trial on hold

Pakistani players are not impressed with Aamer's attitude, according to reports

Talented yet tainted Pakistan bowler Mohammad Aamer’s quest for a return to competitive cricket has taken a hit as the current crop of players have expressed their displeasure to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Pressure has mounted on the Board not to consider Aamer for selection, as most of the players are reluctant to share the dressing room with the left-arm pacer due to his obvious history, reports DNA India.

It was revealed by a source that when the team was about to leave for the Test series against England, captain Misbah-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez made a complaint against the player to the Cricket Board.

"Misbah was upset that while he crossed paths with Aamer several times in the national cricket academy when the team was training there before going to UAE not once did the youngster acknowledge him," the source disclosed.

"In another case when the National Cricket Academy head coach Muhammad Akram asked Aamer to bowl to the Pakistani players in the nets, Hafeez backed out stating he was not going to play with a tainted player," the source said.

Pakistani trio Mohammad Asif, Salman Butt and Mohammad Aamer were banned for 5 years due to the spot-fixing allegations. The ban completed last September and since then, Amer has given a special relaxation rule by ICC under which he is liable to play first class cricket whereas Asif and Butt are still awaiting for this relaxation.

"But the initial reports about the behaviour of particularly Aamer and Asif is not very good and the PCB is concerned," the source said. He said the PCB had received some negative comments about the behaviour of Aamer in domestic matches.”

"The board is concerned since its first priority is to be sure the three are repentant and have learnt from their bans and this does not appear to be the case so far. Aamer and Asif, in particular, don't seem to realise the seriousness of the matter and have shown lot of attitude since their bans expired," the source said.

Aamer was fined 150% of his match fees due to his rough behavior during a domestic match. The PCB chairman Chairman Shaharyar Khan stressed on the point that Aamer will not be allowed to play with this kind of behavior until he is there.

The three of them delivered a lecture on anti-corruption to the domestic players as a part of their re- building process.
