BCCI remains mum on India's South Africa tour

The Indian cricket team’s year-end tour of South Africa remains in limbo as the BCCI skipped discussing it in the Annual General Meeting on Sunday. A BCCI official who attended the AGM said that the South African tour wasn’t even in the agenda of the meeting and matters could only be resolved once the Supreme Court allows newly reinstated president, N Srinivasan to officially assume charge.

“There has been no discussion on the South Africa series. It was not in the agenda but obviously any discussion can take place with the permission from the floor of the house. But since our secretary (Sanjay Patel) has informed CSA CEO Haroon Lorgat that our president will take call, it all depends on whatever Mr Srinivasan decides,” a senior office-bearer told PTI on Sunday.

It is a common known fact that the BCCI and Cricket SA have been at loggerheads since Logart was appointed as the CEO. Logart and the BCCI have a history that goes back to when the former was the CEO of ICC and a number of issues had arisen, including the use of the controversial Decision Review System.

CSA had announced a long-drawn schedule against India that involved three Test matches, seven ODIs and two T20 Internationals which the BCCI shot down for want of a shorter series.

The BCCI went a step further in snubbing the CSA by arranging for a two Test and five ODI series against the West Indies and also confirmed the schedule for their 2014 January series against New Zealand.
