In a surprise move, Mahendra Singh Dhoni ended his tenure as India's limited-overs captain and Twitter saw an outpour of emotions. His successor Virat Kohli posted a heart-warming message as a tribute to the legendary skipper.

Sports is beyond boundaries

Ahead of the high-voltage ICC Champions Trophy final between India and Pakistan, Rajdeep Sardesai tweeted a picture of MS Dhoni carrying Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed’s son Abdullah. The picture instantly won millions of hearts as it showed that there's no rivalry between the two teams off the cricket field.

Spirit of cricket

During an ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 match between India and Pakistan, at the County Ground in Derby, England, Kainat Imtiaz got a chance to meet her inspiration, Jhulan Goswami.

ICC's official Twitter handle shared the Pakistani cricketer's story and revealed how the Indian fast bowler had inspired Kainat to choose cricket as a career.

Terrific gesture

A glass window of the Australian cricket team bus was shattered when a rock was hurled while the visitors were leaving the Barsapara Cricket Stadium after the second T20I at Guwahati.

The embarrassing incident was widely condemned and many fans turned up at the Australian team hotel with posters reading ‘Sorry Australia’.

Moises Henriques accepted the apology and brushed the incident aside as an unfortunate one.

The epic banter!

Virender Sehwag, who is the undisputed king of wit and humour on Twitter, started an epic banter with Ross Taylor during the India-New Zealand series.

The former India opener praised Taylor for his fine knock of 95 in Mumbai and referred to the Kiwi batsman as 'Darji'.

Taylor did not hold it back either and left everyone in splits with his hilarious responses.

Relief and joy

The fans of Chennai Super Kings were over the moon as the two-time Indian Premier League champions were back after the two-year ban. CSK captain MS Dhoni, who spent two years with Rising Pune Supergiant celebrated it in style.

Dhoni posted a photograph of himself wearing a CSK jersey, sporting his customary jersey number 7 and the Tamil word 'Thala' written over it.

Team India skipper Virat Kohli's fairytale wedding to actress Anushka Sharma was undoubtedly one of the most talked about events this year.

Kohli, who took a break during the India-Sri Lanka limited-overs series, confirmed their wedding with a Twitter post that has now become the 'Golden' tweet of the year.
