Jos Buttler, who was formerly a limited overs specialist for England, has stated that he has plenty to improve in his game. The right-handed wicket-keeper batsman will be making his first appearance for England in whites when the home side takes on India at the Rose Bowl on Sunday in the 3rd Test.

"I am still work in progress. I have areas to improve, but at the same time I have got to think I'm 23 ... and far from the finished article. Not many people probably are when they first start,” Buttler admitted ahead of his first Test.

Calling his entry in the Test cricket as “a step into the unknown,” the man with 33 ODIs and 36 T20Is to his name is looking forward to tasting success in the longer version of the game.

“I don’t think anyone really steps into (Test cricket) and sets the world alight straight away. I’m not really expecting to do that – it would be great if I could.

“I think it is down to me to remember what I’ve done to get this far and what has helped me in my county career and in limited overs cricket for England to perform and to transfer that into Test cricket. It’s obviously a step into the unknown a bit for me because I’ve never done it before,” the Somerset lad said to England Cricket Board’s (ECB) official website.

“I’m determined to just try and enjoy the occasion. At 23 years old to be potentially making my Test debut on Sunday is something that I probably didn’t think I would get to quite so quickly. It’s going to be an immensely proud moment on Sunday playing for my country in a Test match,” mentioned a visibly excited cricketer.

Will continue to be an attacking batsman

The cricketer who is known for his attacking instincts said: “ I just have to play my way and trust my technique and the way I go about my batting and is going to be good enough to perform”.

"When Kevin Pietersen played for England, people were excited to watch him because he was always looking to score runs. David Warner has obviously done that role for Australia very successfully. It would be silly of me to go into my shell completely and curb all my natural instincts because at the end of the day that is what has got me to where I have got to.

"I'm not coming in expecting to be the one person who can fix English cricket unfortunately,” he was further quoted as saying.
