1. South Africa (438/9)

Arguably the greatest one day international ever. Simply because of the intensity of the game and the fact that we saw a 400 plus score for the very first time in this format and also we saw it getting hunted down by a spirited South african side in front of their home supporters. If it was Ponting and Hussey in the first innings, it was Gibbs and Smith in the second innings. Despite all the mayhem, Nathan Bracken picked up a 5 wicket haul.

2. India (362/1)

If the above was the best ever, then this was the most one sided of them all in the top 5 list. India took just 43.3 overs to hunt down 360 set by Australia. Virat scored the fastest hundred by an Indian and Rohit Sharma chipped in with a career turning unbeaten 141.

3. India (351/4)

It was the same series, and India demoralised the Aussies by chasing 350 plus again. Virat was the man once again as he blasted an unbeaten 115 aided with Shikhar Dhawan’s 100. It was one of those series where the bowlers had no respite and were getting mauled in almost every match. It’s also worth mentioning that Bailey made his highest one day score of 156 in this game.

4. New Zealand (350/9)

Nine wickets down and New Zealand chased it down with 3 balls to spare. It was one of those epic one dayers. Mathew Hayden carried his bat throughout the innings and made a carrier best 181, but a spirited kiwi side with the help of Mcmillan and Mccullum crossed the line in one of the most extraordinary run chases.

5. New Zealand (340/5)

It’s amazing how Australia were at the receiving end on all five occasions. It was the same series and New Zealand shocked the world champions yet again. Hussey made a 84 ball hundred, but Taylor’s measured hundred and the cameos from Fulton and Mcmillan helped the kiwis win again.
