India host West Indies a in a two-Test series and even before the BCCI have worked out the full details of the West Indies’ tour, which will also include ODIs, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) have already inquired about hosting Sachin Tendulkar’s 200th Test, which would in all probability, barring injuries, be the second Test of the series.

“I understand Mumbai is keen to host the match as it could be Sachin’s last Test at home, but Sachin belongs to Kolkata as well. He belongs to the whole of India,” Biswarup Dey, the CAB treasurer told Mid Day.

“We feel Eden Gardens will be the best stadium to host Sachin’s 200th Test. After all, it has the biggest capacity across all venues (about 67,000 seats) in the country and also has an illustrious history.”

CAB are so keen that they have already discussed the matter with the BCCI.

“We requested BCCI president N Srinivasan on Sunday to let Eden host the match. Let’s see how the Board responds,” said Dey.

It will be interesting to see how BCCI treasurer and Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Ravi Savant handles the situation if the BCCI grant CAB their wish as he will want the match to be played in Mumbai but will simultaneously be wary of upsetting the BCCI.
