IPL 2016: David Miller praises Manan Vohra, says he is happy with performances so far

The decision made by the Kings XI Punjab to retain Manan Vohra might have surprised a few fans but he is paying back the franchise for the faith they put in him. Vohra has been contributing well and scoring some quick runs at the top of the order this season.

The diminutive opener scored a 33-ball 51 and was involved in a 97-run partnership that was instrumental in defeating the Rising Pune Supergiants in their last game.

David Miller, who is one of the backbones of the KXIP middle order, recently heaped praise on Vohra adding that he has a great future ahead of him.

"He's a serious player," Miller said. "He's a young player and he has a lot of talent and he has a huge future ahead of him. I think he's starting to construct his innings really well. He's been off to great starts in the past he even did well two years ago.

“I think for him, (he needs to) just keep learning and to try and contribute a bit more in the middle overs. It was good for him to have a knock like that."

Vohra was adjudged the man of the match in the last game and Miller said that he was happy with the starts they were getting off to.

“The opening pair has done exceptionally well in the last three games so credit to them," he remarked.

Miller also added that it was a special feeling to have beaten the RPSG. "It's a good feeling, to be honest. Nice to beat a team like that. Every team is a difficult team and this is a great win for us. We hope to get some good momentum with that. Nice feeling for the camp to get off the mark," he said.

“Guys were really strong and they stuck to their plan - it was good through the middle overs. We were trying to use the big boundary best we could. We managed to pick up a couple of wickets at key times. I think it's tough to score when you have to keep rebuilding."

Miller conceded that it is tough to captain the side but downplayed premature concerns about his own poor run of form in the tournament so far.

“There's a lot to think about when it comes to captaincy. You learn that early in the role. Like I said, going out to bat, I'd like to think the same things. Do all the normal things that I normally do. I want to work hard and hopefully, in the next two or three games, I can come up with a match-winning innings."

"I'm feeling really good," he said. "If that had gone for a six, I would have continued to take them down. I'll keep working hard, thinking the right things which I normally do and I will stick to whatever works for me."
