IPL 2016: Kings XI Punjab's starting training camp from 9th April

David Miller will lead the Kings XI Punjab this year in the IPL.

Kings XI Punjab's Indian cricketers will begin their training camp here on Sunday, ahead of the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting on April 9.

Mohit Sharma, Akshar Patel, Wriddhiman Saha and Murali Vijay will join the camp on the opening day, it was announced on Saturday.

Gurkeerat Mann, Sandeep Sharma, Manan Vohra, K.C. Cariappa, Anureet Singh, Shardul Thakur, Armaan Jaffer, Pardeep Sahu, Rishi Dhawan, Nikhil Naik and Swapnil Singh will also join the camp.

Head coach Sanjay Bangar, bowling coach Joe Dawes and fielding coach R. Sridhar and other members of the support staff will be present at the Punjan Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium.

"We are really excited to begin the cricket camp for IPL 9. We have a well-balanced team, with a good mix of experience and youth and the entire coaching staff is looking forward to working with the team," Bangar said in a release.

"During the camp, we will be focusing on building team synergy and identifying areas that need minor tweaks before the tournament begins. The retention of Virender Sehwag as mentor will be very beneficial for us as well."

KXIP finished at the bottom of the 2015 IPL and this time, they will seek improvement under new captain, South African David Miller.
