James Anderson on the verge of overtaking Botham at Lord's in 2nd Test

James Anderson bowls against India in the first Test at Trent Bridge

England pace bowler James Anderson is set to become the all-time leading wicket-taker at Lord’s when he faces India in the 2nd of the five Test match series. The 31-year-old is one wicket away from equalling Sir Ian Botham’s tally of 68 wickets at the ‘Home of cricket’.

Both Anderson and Botham have played 15 Tests at the ground. Botham has registered 8 five-wicket hauls in 15 Test matches with an innings best of 8 for 34 – both are Lord’s record till date. Anderson has picked up 4 five-fors at the ground.

In the first Test, Anderson became the first bowler to bag 50 Test wickets at Trent Bridge before surpassing the highest individual score for an England No.11. Along with Joe Root, he was also involved in the record highest last wicket partnership (198) in Test cricket. The 95-Test veteran will be looking forward to break another record when he steps out at Lord’s.

However, Anderson is now faced with a different problem as he has been charged under Level 3 of ICC code of conduct for ‘pushing and abusing’ Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. However, with the hearing set to be completed in the next 14 days, Anderson is set to play at Lord’s.

The Lord’s Test, 2^nd in the 5-match series, is scheduled to start on Thursday.
