South African strike bowler Kagiso Rabada sent Usman Khawaja packing for a 20-ball duck in the ongoing day one of the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2025. The left-handed batter was struck on the crease as the right-arm speedster helped South Africa make early inroads on the opening day.

The dismissal occurred when Rabada came on to bowl his fourth over of the innings. With Marnus Labuschagne bringing Khawaja into strike after taking a single, Rabada got the latter to nick one to slip with a length delivery. David Bedingham took the catch safely at the slip cordon despite Aiden Markram coming in between to attempt it.

The 30-year-old also got rid of Cameron Green after conceding a boundary, as the latter also edged to slip, with Markram taking the catch this time.

Meanwhile, the toss in the overcast conditions of Lord's Cricket Ground went South Africa's way and Temba Bavuma opted to bowl first. Both sides have gone for three frontline pacers, with the Proteas opting for Rabada, Marco Jansen and Lungi Ngidi, with all-rounder Wiaan Mulder also providing a bowling option.

Despite Scott Boland's outstanding performance over the home season against India, Scott Boland missed out on the eleven. Josh Hazlewood has returned to partner captain Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. With Green unable to bowl yet due to recently recovering from a back injury, the towering Beau Webster will provide another bowling option for Australia.

The Baggy Greens had registered series wins over India, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and Pakistan to finish second in the points table of the WTC 2023-25 cycle. The Proteas, meanwhile, ended the cycle at the top with series victories over Bangladesh, West Indies, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Australia are the defending champions, having won the mace in 2023 by beating Team India at The Oval.
