Qatar to host women's T20 and triangular series

Qatar will be added to the list of neutral venues of cricket around the world as Pakistan cricket board has announced a women’s T20 and a Triangular series to be played in Qatar from January 8-25.

The series will see the women’s team of South Africa , Ireland and Pakistan battling it out in the desert nation. “This will be the introduction of Top flight women’s cricket in a region, where women sport has not taken full flight yet.

The triangular one-day tournament will start from January 10 and will end on the 17th . All matches are day and night. The T20 tri-series will be played from January 19-25.

“Both the series in Qatar will be of great significance since these teams are in the same pool in the upcoming World Twenty 20 to be held in Bangladesh,” said the PCB.”Qatar can be a good venue for our teams in the future and the women series will give us an idea how Qatar can help us in hosting cricket there,” said Sethi.

Pakistan’s men’s team has been a regular visitor of the region as they play all their home games at the United Arab Emirates , which has turned out to be a terrific venue for cricket. Qatar will be looking to follow their neighbour’s footsteps and will try to cement their place as a regular cricketing venue, which is terrific for the growth of the game as well.
