Stuart Broad speaks on prospect of playing against Mohammad Amir again

Tainted Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has not been taken in the Pakistan squad that is to face England in the October-November tour, but English fast bowler Stuart Broad has recently held forth to ESPNCricinfo on how it will feel to compete alongside the convicted match-fixer in the future.

There remains a good chance that the 23-year-old Amir will find his way back into the national team, and may feature when his team tour England next summer.

In the aftermath of the Lord’s Test five years ago when Broad had etched a world record eighth-wicket stand of 332 with Jonathan Trott, revelations published in News of the World led to jail terms and playing bans of Amir, Mohammad Asif and captain Salman Butt.

Broad said, “There was obviously quite a big cloud over that Test series victory in 2010. But the ICC gave the players punishments and they are getting close to having served them.

“I've seen a few interviews that he's done and he seems sorry and keen to get back on a cricket field," Broad added. "But as a player you are not too bothered who you are playing against, to be honest, you go a bit internal and focus on what you do."

Pakistan's first Test at Lord's since that infamous fixture begins on July 14 next year. Amir, who has been drawing loud cheers in the Haier T20 Cup in Pakistan recently, is yet to be given a welcome back into the international fold, but Broad on his part, seems to have forgiven his fast bowling compatriot.
