Video: South African cricketers enjoy the hospitality in India

Faf du Plessis (L) and AB de Villiers (R) scored centuries to help South Africa win the series

After winning the ODI series 3-2, Proteas Cricket posted the seventh episode of their ‘India Tour Diaries’ on YouTube. AB de Villiers had also posted the video on his official Twitter account after winning the series on Sunday.

The video was shot in Rajkot, where South Africa had played the third ODI against India. South Africa had won the match by 18 runs to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

The official YouTube account of the South African cricket team stated that India had many worthy traits, of which the redeeming one was that of the hospitality shown by the Indians. The Proteas experienced this first-hand when they stayed at their hotel in Rajkot.

Fast bowlers Morne Morkel and Chris Morris, along with middle-order batsman David Miller speak about how they enjoyed the hospitality they received. The Fortune Park JPS Grand was the hotel that the South Africans were stationed at during their stay in Rajkot.

The hotel had put up posters of all the players in and around the hotel which the South African players felt was a great gesture. Miller posed next to a poster of Dale Steyn trying to imitate the “bowling face” of the South African bowling spearhead.

Another aspect that the Proteas particularly enjoyed was the personalised coffee mugs they received for breakfast. Each player received a mug that had their image printed on it.

Morkel's entertaining rant from 1:15 onwards until the end of the video is one to watch and enjoy as he goes on about how the face on his mug is helping him do the things he is supposed to do each day. At the end of the video, Morkel's taunt to Morris asking him to “talk to the face” received a hilarious reaction from Morris.

The Proteas’ tour diaries have given cricket fans a chance to see the lighter side of the South African players and know more about their favourite players.

The four-match Test series between India and South Africa starts after a ten-day gap, with the first Test beginning on November 5 at Mohali.
