When Sachin Tendulkar got lost in an English village

Sachin Tendulkar waits for rescue in Great Hasley, Oxfordshire

Sachin Tendulkar has steered the Indian cricket team home to victory like a superhero for more than two decades, but it has been now made apparent that even superheroes can get lost, and can miss buses.

"In Great Haseley, Oxfordshire. Missed the last bus, can anyone give me a lift??" – went a tweet from the 42-year-old on Saturday.

Tendulkar was in England for Wimbledon, on the sidelines of which he was frequently spotted over the last week. However, while the women’s final match between Serena Williams and Garbine Muguruza was on, the Little Master found himself stranded in an obscure English with a population of 511.

Tendulkar has an active following on the social media, and was not short on rescue offers from his fans, getting a lot of retweets from concerned fans.

"Hope i was there to give lift.... !!! Even would hv given car (sic)", wrote one of his followers. Another wrote, "even God misses a bus.” “unlucky bus driver”, tweeted another fan.

An Instagram user, Asher Mihir, wrote: "Sir @sachintendulkar: Giving you lift is equal to giving lift to GOD.... I wish i could give lift...." Another said: "As an Oxfordshire resident, would have been there in a flash to rescue 'God' himself."

Sachin did manage to get out of his predicament though the details of the actual rescue are not available. On Sunday he tweeted a picture of himself in shades outside a church, with a message fondly remembering his rural adventure: “Enjoyed Oxfordshire.”
