Meanwhile, after 2025, Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc's partnership ceased to exist. Ferrari replaced the Spanish driver with seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Sainz, on the other hand, joined hands with Williams Racing on a multi-year contract. Leclerc, however, remains untouched, as he signed a multi-year extension contract with the Italian in 2024.

After being replaced by Ferrari, Carlos Sainz couldn't land a seat at a top team and shook hands with Williams Racing. However, the Spaniard has no regrets, as he wants to build Williams into a top team.

Talking to Motorsport.com, he said:

"I’ve come to my own conclusions. But I’ll keep them to myself. I believe the people in F1 know perfectly well why certain choices are made—I don’t need to explain it in front of a microphone. So I told myself, If I can’t join a top team, I’ll help build one."

"At Williams, I saw the potential to start a great story. I spoke at length with James [Vowles] about the project he had in mind, and I decided to bet on Williams because it seemed like the best opportunity to build a top team. Six months into this journey, I can say I’m even more convinced than when I signed. We’re all working 100% to achieve this goal."

However, Carlos Sainz is keeping a realistic approach. He believes Williams isn't ready to compete for the championship in 2026. With the new engine regulations coming in, the team will need time to settle in and see how the pecking order scuffles, if at all, it does.

Regardless, Sainz is committed to giving his absolute best to Williams and ensuring steep growth in the next few years.
