The future of Red Bull team principal Christian Horner could be under serious doubt. Reports claim that he could be on the way out of the Milton Keynes-based team.
As per GPBlog, the Thai co-owner of Red Bull GmbH, Chalerm Yoovidhya, has lost confidence in Horner's leadership amid the team's tough 2025 Formula 1 season.
It is not only this year that Horner has been under the firing line. In 2024, his position at the team was under scrutiny following a lawsuit filed by a female team employee in regard to alleged transgressive behaviour from him.
Other than this, in recent times, it has been reported that Horner may be eyeing the team principal position on the Enstone-based Alpine F1 team. The Brit has reportedly had interactions with Flavio Briatore.
Horner's power at Red Bull has also seen a significant reduction in recent times as he is apparently no longer allowed to sign contracts with drivers (per GPBlog).
Red Bull willing to give 'time and support' to second driver Yuki Tsunoda
While Christian Horner could be on the way out of Red Bull because of a plethora of reasons, he recently shared that the Milton Keynes-based team is willing to support its second driver, Yuki Tsunoda.
The Japanese driver took the place of now Racing Bulls' driver Liam Lawson on the main team. The latter was sacked following his timid performances in the initial rounds of 2025.
While Tsunoda has also not lit up the timing sheets with his performances in the second Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen, the Austrian outfit is determined to support the former.
In line with this, Horner added the following via Formula 1:
"I think the only thing that we can do is give him time and support and try and get a set-up that he’s got confidence in. Driving these cars is all about confidence, and that’s what he needs to find. I think he’ll get there. He’s fast. He’s just got to piece it all together. We keep seeing flashes of performance. We just need to see him put it all together. I think he’s capable of that," Horner said.
The 2025 Formula 1 season is nine races down with 15 events still remaining on the race calendar. Yuki Tsunoda is currently in 15th position in the drivers' championship with only 10 points. The other drivers in the Red Bull stable, apart from Lawson, are all ahead of him (Isack Hadjar is on 21 points, with Max Verstappen way ahead with 137).
Next up on the 2025 F1 calendar is the Canadian Grand Prix. During next week's event (June 15), quite a few eyes will be glued on the Milton-Keynes-based team's garage for a plethora of reasons.
