McLaren has announced that they will not run their race drivers Jenson Button and Sergio Perez at this week’s Young Drivers Test. Instead, they will give their test drivers Oliver Turvey, Gary Paffett and Kevin Magnussen a day each at Silverstone.

Kevin Magnussen, who is the son of former F1 driver Jan Magnussen and currently lies second in Formula Renault 3.5 Championship will drive for the team on the opening day of the session before handling duties to Oliver Turvey for the second day. Team’s regular test driver Gary Paffet will drive on the final day of Young Drivers Test.

“The Silverstone young driver test will be an extremely useful opportunity for us to conduct further investigative work into the effects of aerodynamic and mechanical changes to the car,” he said.

“Just as importantly, it’ll be a proper opportunity for our test and development drivers to further develop their knowledge and understanding of modern Formula 1 machinery, while simultaneously allowing them to help us refine the correlation between the track and the simulator.”

However, Raikkonen, Hulkenberg and Maldonado will drive for their respective teams at Silverstone this week, albeit only for one day as per the regulations.
