Former Formula One driver Christian Danner has said that Kimi Raikkonen might be already regretting his return to Ferrari.

Raikkonen had a bad weekend in Abu Dhabi which saw his crash out of the race in the first lap itself and Danner believes that Raikkonen will not be having the freedom that he has in Lotus after his return to Ferrari.

“Kimi is annoyed that his manager is sending him back to Ferrari. He sees that Alonso at the moment is driving for the ‘golden pineapple’ at best — far away from winning. Lotus gave him all the freedom he wants, and at the moment quite clearly a better car as well. What’s he going to do when Luca di Montezemolo tells him he’s going to too many parties?,” Danner said.

The Finn has been a going through a rough patch at Lotus, with him even threatening to skip the last two races over the team’s failure to pay him salary.

Meanwhile, Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali said that the team is pleased to have a top lineup for the 2014 season.

“Kimi suddenly and unexpectedly became available in the summer. We had to take the opportunity. It was almost not a conscious choice we had to make,” he said.
