Sebastian Vettel extends his lead at the top

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel won the Singapore Grand Prix, 32.6 seconds clear of Fernando Alonso, while Kimi Raikkonen pulled of a stunning comeback from behind on the 55th lap to grab the final podium place.

The two Mercedes drivers Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton managed to finish fourth and fifth respectively.

Mark Webber was forced to make a shocking retirement on the final lap while Felipe Massa and Jenson Button could only manage 6th and 7th position.

Lotus driver Roman Grosjean, the Frenchman who started third from the grid, unfortunately had to retire on the 38th lap. Paul Di Resta and Daniel Ricciardo were also knocked out.

On winning the race, Vettel said: “The start was quite hairy, Nico had a better start than me but thankfully he went a bit too deep and I was able to recover which was very important. The car was incredible and it was a pleasure to drive it round this crazy track.

“This is a long race so there are a lot of things that can go wrong so you can’t afford to lean back. At the end I was just controlling the gap. It was hard work out there but we like it because it is one of the most challenging tracks.”
