The 118th edition of the IFA Shield, organised by the Indian Football Association (West Bengal), would be played from January 29 to February 11, 2014 in Kolkata. This years tournament would see eight teams competing for the title.
In Group A local sides East Bengal Club and United SC would face Geylang International FC (SINGAPORE) and Busan Kion Tong (SOUTH KOREA); while in Group B the local sides Mohun Bagan AC and Mohammedan Sporting Club would face Shillong Lajong FC and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club (BANGLADESH).
The organisers wanted to bring in foreign teams and succeeded in getting three club sides from South Korea, Singapore and Bangladesh to come and join the tournament.
