2015 AFC Cup: East Bengal ready for opener away to Johor Darul Ta'azim

East Bengal face the Malaysian outfit Johor Darul Ta'azim tonight in the AFC Cup

Kolkata giants East Bengal Club have travelled to Malaysia for their 2015 AFC Cup - Group F opener against Johor Darul Ta'azim at the Stadium Tan Sri Dato Hj Hassan Yunos in Johor Bahru tomorrow night.

In Group F besides Johor Darul Ta'azim (Malaysia), East Bengal Club would also face Kitchee SC (Hongkong) and Balestier Khalsa FC (Singapore) in the group four team group stage.

The match would be the first game in-charge for Dutchman Eelco Schattorie, who was introduced as the new head coach of the red-and-gold in Kolkata on Thursday evening last week.

At the pre-match press conference Eelco Schattorie said, "I have taken charge of this team a week back and had undergone two training sessions. We hope to do well in this tournament. We will go for a win and even a draw will be sufficient for us in this Away match.”

Schattorie also spoke about Johor's two quality foreigners in their Argentinian strikers Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Luciano Gabriel Figueroa Herrera.

Meanwhile East Bengal captain Gurwinder Singh said, "This is our first match in this year's AFC Cup and we are confident of putting up a good show. The morale of the team has now become high and we will put up a good show.”

Meanwhile Johor Darul Ta'azim head coach Bojan Hodak spoke about the Malaysian Super League which has just started and the team not being fully fit. The team has just played three games in the league with one win, one draw and one lose. He also told that they are aware of the Nigerian duo strike force of MacPherlin Dudu Omagbemi and Ranty Martins Soleye and their defence will try to contain them.
