June 6, 2015 was not all about football boots for Adidas (We did not forget, it was the Champions league final). Yes, Adidas released its three football boots (Adidas Ace, Adidas X and Adidas Messi 15.1) for the year 2015-2016 on that day. Along with these football boots, Adidas also released its next-generation goalkeeper gloves for the year 2015-2016. Marc-André ter Stegen debuted these gloves in the Champions league final and well, he had a terrific day (in fact, it could not get better).

Just like Adidas Ace, this is for the player who controls the game. We are glad that Adidas’s ‘Football Revolution’ did not miss the goalkeepers.

Let us dive in deeper with Adidas’s latest offering in goalkeeper gloves. The Adidas ACE zones.

Regarding the styling, these goalkeeper gloves are analogous to the Adidas Ace 15.1 football boots. Adidas offers these gloves in the similar yellow/black colorway. These gloves even feature the honeycomb structure in the punching zone. Adidas performance logo is printed on the backhand area.

Coming to the technology, these goalkeeper gloves are a lot like the previous generation goalkeeper gloves from Adidas – Adidas Predator Zones. Adidas took all what is best from the Adidas Predator Zones and made it better. It features Adidas’s Contact Maximizer, what does it do? (You guessed it right) It makes sure that you will always get supreme contact between the ball and your hand. In the palm area, these gloves will feature a unique latex that offers unparalleled levels of friction between the ball and the hand.

In the finger region, these will feature a 4mm Nova foam. This patented technology should offer extraordinary levels of grip in both dry and wet weather conditions. The ACE Zones will also feature a redesigned bandage. These gloves will fit virtually any player. Comfortability levels should be mind-blogging.

The backhand will feature homogeneous zones; this makes sure that there is even delivery of power when you punch the ball. Along with this, it will feature the groundbreaking ‘Fingersave’ spines. These unique spines should add enough support, cushioning and shock absorption such that you can stop even the most powerful shots. Durability of the gloves should not be a matter of interest as Adidas has introduced specially engineered zones at critical areas of the gloves.

Adidas athletes like Manuel Neuer, Iker Casillas, David de Gea and Marc-André ter Stegen will wear these gloves for the 2015-2016 season.

Like the football boots, these gloves are also available in various tiers. Adidas is set to offer three different versions of the Adidas Ace Zones Goalkeeper Gloves. The Adidas Ace Zones Ultimate (retails at €180 i.e., around 13,000INR) is the top-tier version. This will feature the best Adidas technology. Other versions are Adidas Ace Zones Fingersave (retails at €120 i.e., around 9,000INR) and the Adidas Zones Pro (retails at €90 i.e. around 6,000INR). The Pro version is the economy version. It will not feature the ‘Fingersave’ spines.

Bottom-line: An evolution of Adidas Predator Zones. No football revolution here.
