Reports: Argentina striker Sergio Aguero officially out of World Cup through injury

Sergio Aguero limps off during World cup match against Nigeria

Argentina faced a crucial blow as striker Sergio Aguero got injured in the match against Nigeria.

But the latest developments on Thursday revealed the sad news that the Albiceste forward is officially out for the remainder of the World Cup. Kun’s muscle problem has been labelled a grade 1 tear on the back of his left thigh.

The Manchester City frontman was looking good before he was seen limping off the field in the 37th minute with his thigh heavily strapped.

Aguero has always been known to be an injury prone player as the Argentine missed the first 15 games of the season for Manchester City in 2013. He made a sensational comeback as he netted 17 goals in 23 games to help Manchester City clinch the title.

But with the World Cup going on, Aguero has been an important part of the team and his partnership with Lionel Messi was seen as vital for the South Americans in their bid to clinch their third World Cup trophy.

Argentina won their group match against Nigeria 3-2 with their Captain Lionel Messi scoring a brace to help his team top the table.
