Arsenal’s pre-season has been an immensely successful one, they’ve been playing at a level that their competition have simply not been able to cope. They started off with a 4-0 win against Singapore Select XI and then beat Everton 3-1.
But they blew those two results out of the water with their absolute drubbing of Lyon 6-0 in the pre-season friendly tournament Emirates Cup. It is a result that doesn’t tell the full story, it could have been much worse for the French visitors.
Six different goalscorers made up the numbers for the Gunners, Olivier Giroud, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Iwobi, Aaron Ramsey, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla all made it to the scoresheet.
It was a game that left Arsenal fans crooning about Mesut Ozil deserving a Ballon D’Or, and for good reason.
