Arsenal angry as Jose Mourinho mocks Gunners

Arsenal v Chelsea - Barclays Premier League

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho taunted the Arsenal fans that goaded him as “boring,” by reminding them that they have never seen their team win against him. He saw his side draw 0-0 at the Emirates last night, to extend his unbeaten run against the club to ten games. Mourinho continued by suggesting that Arsenal’s foreign players like to cry at contact, and that he prefers the blood and thunder of the English style of play.

On home fans chanting “boring Jose, Mourinho responded; “I agree. I played against them 10 times and I never lost. Funny, funny Jose? Ten times they don’t win once.”

He continued to talk about Arsenal’s players, who felt that they could have had a penalty for a foul on Theo Walcott and believed that John Obi Mikel could have been sent off for a foul on Mikel Arteta.

“You know, they like to cry. That’s tradition.”

“But I prefer to say, and I was telling it to the fourth official, that English people – Frank Lampard, for example – would never provoke a situation like that.”

“Players from other countries, especially some countries, have that in their blood if you have a contact or the opponent was aggressive.”

“Foreign players are bringing lots of good things. They come here because they are talented. But I prefer English blood in football. English blood in this situation is: ‘Come on, let’s go.”

“Today it was important not to lose. But it wouldn’t have been a big surprise if we had won. Arsenal showed a lot of frustration. But we weren’t aggressive, sharp enough to score a goal.”

Arteta was the victim of Mikel’s challenge, and unsurprisingly saw things differently to Mourinho.

“You could see that Chelsea only wanted to defend, and we wanted to win the game”, he opened. “You know that Chelsea can counter-attack well but we controlled the game.”

“I haven’t seen the challenge from John Mikel Obi again but my ankle is swollen big time. He broke my shinpad and he was late.”

“The referee had to make the decision and he decided it wasn’t a red card. Theo Walcott is saying that it was also 100 per cent a penalty for the foul on him.”

“We were unlucky tonight. It is one of the most difficult seasons to win the league and it will be a big challenge.”

Arteta’s boss Arsene Wenger refused to be drawn into a war of words with his opposite number, but did say that he felt his side should have had a penalty.

“It’s Christmas so let’s give everyone his own opinion. I’ll have mine. What can I say? We dropped two points tonight and that’s what we want to focus on for the next game.”

“I think it was a penalty. Honestly. If I’m wrong, I apologise. I’ve not seen it again, but it looked like a penalty. They defended well, were well organised, and we didn’t find our zippy movements to play between the lines as we can.”

Mourinho’s “boring side” restricted Arsenal to just two shots on target, their joint lowest of the season so far alongside their 1-0 loss to Manchester United
