Jose Mourinho powerless to stop Petr Cech from joining Arsenal or Manchester United

Petr Cech’s future is no longer in Jose Mourinho’s hands

After a season of speculation surrounding the future of Petr Cech at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho has given the biggest indication yet that the Goalkeeper could move to one of our Premier League rivals this summer.

Speaking yesterday when asked of Cech's future, Mourinho responded by saying:

"If it’s in my hands he would never go, would never go to big clubs with fantastic teams. Big candidates to win the Premier League. I would never let him go.

“But it’s not in my hands. My perfect scenario is that he stays with us, I think he belongs to this club, this club belongs to his history and to his life, too.

“He is a fantastic keeper, fantastic dressing room and squad man. I tried to prove the respect I have for him. I played him in the cups, gave him matches in the Premier League. I can imagine that a 32 or 33-year-old keeper feels young and feels the passion to play every game.”

Now I know this will be a bone of contention amongst the Blues supporters up and down the land but all I can do on here is give my humble opinion.

Let's be realistic and ask ourselves the question if we think that Cech will be the number one next season? No, he will not. Do we think that it's a lot to ask Cech to remain at the club and face another season on the bench? Yes, we do. Do we think that Petr Cech deserves to be able to have the opportunity to leave? Yes, we do!

I have always stated on here that Petr Cech should be given the freedom to choose where he goes after the service he has given our club. If that is to one of our direct rivals then so be it. After all he has achieved here, in the most successful period of our clubs history, surely it's something he deserves because let's face it Courtois is the number one now.

Arsene Wenger has tried to deny the fact that he is interested in Cech, claiming that he has three world class goalkeepers already. Also, as we know David De Gea is about to leave Manchester United to go to Real Madrid so they are looking for a replacement. So you can bet your life if Cech becomes available, both will be in for him for as little as £5-£10m.

What do you people think about Cech and him possibly moving to a top four rival next season? Do you think he should be given the freedom to choose or should the club deny him the right to do so?
