Didier Drogba: "I would think about rejoining Chelsea"

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has admitted that he would be interested should Chelsea try to bring him back to the club, telling reporters that the Stamford Bridge club are the only side that he would return to England for. Whether Blues boss Jose Mourinho would countenance a move for the 35 year old striker remains to be seen, but the Galatasaray forward believes that he still has the ability to play at the top level for another three years.

Drogba faces his old side in the Champions League in Turkey tomorrow, before returning to Stamford Bridge for the second leg – a ground which holds many happy memories for the forward from his eight year spell at the club.

“I had a great time at Chelsea and if Jose was saying, “Didier, I want you to come back”, I would think about it,” he admitted.

“If, and I say if, by any chance it [returning to England] could happen, it would only be with one team.”

Should Mourinho consider bringing him back, then Drogba believes that his experience and intelligence would allow him to continue at a high level, in spite of his advancing years.

“It’s impossible to stop time but it’s possible, with your intelligence on the pitch and your experience, to play at a high level even for two or three more years.”
