Eden Hazard must deliver against Manchester United and Arsenal

Eden Hazard
Eden Hazard will have to prove his mettle in big games for Chelsea

Eden Hazard by the opinion of most, is well on course to win the Player of the Year award this season. Having had an excellent season so far, he deserves all the praise he has received but I cannot help but feel that for some, he needs to deliver in the two biggest games of our season if he wants to be considered up there with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

We have heard the exciting Belgian speak of his dream to one day win the Ballon D'or and I think we all agree that he has the potential to do so but if he wants to do it, he needs to deliver outstanding performances in the biggest games to convince the doubters out there.

How many times have you seen Messi do it? How many times have you seen Ronaldo do it? That's why they are lauded as they are and are named year in, year out on the shortlist for the biggest individual prize in the game and in recent seasons, have both dominated winning the award Hazard dreams of winning one day.

Eden Hazard is not going to score 40-50+ goals per season like the other two because let's face it, the Premier League is far stronger than La Liga. Did we ever see Ronaldo get anywhere near that figure when he was here before? Are we likely to see either Messi or Ronaldo reach that incredible number if they came here in the future? I do not believe we will!

This is Eden Hazard's third season at Chelsea and we have seen a continual improvement in all aspects of his game. Having scored a total of 50 goals in 194 appearances for Lille, he started off with 13 goals in 62 appearances for Chelsea 2012-2013. Last season 2013-2014 Hazard improved his figures and scored 17 goals in 49 games.

This season again, Hazard has shown considerable improvement scoring 17 goals again from 44 games and we still have seven games to go. In total, Hazard has scored 47 goals in 155 appearances for Chelsea.

Hazard continues to get better season on season. He has almost become the focal point of our attacks because he can quite literally conjure something out of nothing. How many times have we seen him glide by one challenge, two challenges, three and four and orchestrate our attack? How many times have we seen him leave defenders trailing in his dust as he leaves them for dead after turning them inside out? We need Eden Hazard to do that this weekend to Manchester United and Arsenal the week after.

Players on top of their game are judged over the course of a season and rightly so but it's the big games, the games that play a pivotal role in the destination of titles and trophies when it really matters. It's games such as these that Hazard will be judged from being the Premier League's best to World Class.

If Chelsea win the Premier League title this season they will owe a great deal to the Belgian winger for his contribution. If Eden Hazard can make the contribution we are all hoping for in these two games, he will be another step closer to his dreams.
