Current Middlesbrough and former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has entered the technology market after launching his own mobile dating app called "Hola Dating." The Spaniard's app will be coming out as a competitor to other dating apps like Tinder.

Valdes joined hands with a Barcelona-based startup group called Tramontana Adventure and came up with the idea of the "Hola Dating" app. The 34-year-old is hoping to release the app in the Android Play Store and iOS App Store very soon.

Victor Valdes announced his new project via his Twitter account. The Spaniard also explained about the working of the app in a video he posted on his Twitter handle last month. The goalkeeper said that "Hola Dating" will make the conversation between interested people a lot easier and free.

"We think that in the dating world, you can feel attracted to someone on the bus, the metro, in a cafe, or in a college or club. But, you don't necessarily have the courage to approach them and break the ice. Therefore you need this app," the former Barcelona player said.

How 'Hola Dating' works

The footballer, who is now going to have a new career, also explained about the functioning of the app. Valdes said that the system will provide a colour to someone who joins the app. The colour given to the person will be completely random. The user can give the colour to a person that he or she is interested in and get into a private conversation. This way, Valdes believes, things will be a lot easier for interested people to communicate.

“Here I’m on the app and the system says ‘Hola’ and gives me a brown-orange colour. The system is giving me a completely random colour. Then, I show this message to the person I want to start a conversation with and that person can search for me and my profile thanks to the colour I’ve shown them. So then, we can start a conversation in a private channel," Valdes said in the video he uploaded on Twitter.

"Hola Dating" is written and developed by software engineers at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. The app is currently being processed and developed but is expected to be released on Android and iOS soon.

The launching of the app indicates that Victor Valdes is thinking about hanging his boots and starting a new career. It is a trend for footballers to take up careers as team managers but the former Manchester United man is planning to take a completely new path.

Victor Valdes currently plays for newly promoted Premier League club Middlesbrough and was a key player for them against Arsenal on Saturday after helping the team to hold the Gunners to a 0-0 draw.
