Chelsea’s Eden Hazard (C) celebrates his goal against Derby in the Capital One Cup

Premier League leaders saw off Championship opponents Derby in the Capital One Cup to reach the semi-finals. The Blues won 3-1 at Pride Park Stadium with Derby down to 10 men after Jake Buxton was sent off.

Eden Hazard, Filipe Luis and Andre Schurrle scored to give Jose Mourinho’s side the win while Craig Bryson scored the only goal for Derby. But it wasn’t the perfect win for the Blues as they lost both Kurt Zouma and Didier Drogba to injury.

Zouma had to be substituted after suffering a head injury when he collided with Petr Cech during a corner kick while Drogba had to limp off the pitch holding his ankle. But Mourinho wasn’t too concerned and said: “Kurt Zouma looks fine now. He had a cut on the inside of his mouth. We had information immediately that it was nothing serious. But he was feeling a bit dizzy, so we took no risks.

On Drogba, he said: “Didier Drogba went over on his ankle. With his mentality, I believe he can get over it before the game at Stoke on Monday.”

Derby 0-1 Chelsea: Hazard (23’)

Hazard scored the first goal after the Blues pressed Derby’s defence and won the ball back. Fabregas’ through ball found Hazard who skipped into the box, beat a defender and took a low shot across goal to beat the goalkeeper.

Derby 0-2 Chelsea: Luis (56’)

Filipe Luis scored his first goal for Chelsea with this free-kick which sailed over the wall and beat the goalkeeper.

Derby 1-2 Chelsea: Bryson (71’)

Derby pulled one back when Bryson scored from the edge of the box when his low, first time shot hit the post and went in.

Derby 1-3 Chelsea: Schurrle (82’)

Chelsea finally put the game out of reach when Schurrle scored from the edge of the six-yard box after Derby goalkeeper Lee Grant had initially saved Loic Remy’s shot.
