Manchester City hosted Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon. City were behind Premier League leaders Chelsea with 2 points and were looking to close the gap, but Arsenal had the upper hand at the last minute as they won comfortably by two goals from Santi Cazorla and Oliver Giroud. This loss ended City’s unbeaten run of 12 games.

Arsenal leapfrogged Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United and are currently in fifth position with 39 points. They have also managed to keep three clean sheets in their last three matches against Hull City, Stoke City and now Manchester City.

Cazorla scored from the spot after Kompany had bodychecked Monreal inside the penalty box.

Giroud headed home from close range after Cazorla curled a free kick towards the box.
