Jose Mourinho: I have no relationship with Ronaldo; talks about managing Real Madrid again

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho talks about his relationship with former player Cristiano Ronaldo.

You would think being from the same country and working together would create a strong bond between two of football’s biggest personalities, but that is not the case with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and his former colleague, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

Speaking to Portugal’s TV1, the Portuguese manager was quoted saying, "The relationship between Ronaldo and myself is non-existent. He plays for Real Madrid, I'm the Chelsea manager. You would not find us hanging around together.”

Mourinho had won the Spanish La Liga and Copa del Rey during his tenure as Real Madrid coach, achievements that he honours, and still is thankful of Ronaldo’s contribution towards that.

“The relationship does not exist, but the remembrance of his impact does. I have to remind myself that he is a goal machine who helped me become a Liga champion, win the Copa del Rey and the Supercopa,” he adds. "I try to keep the best memories of Cristiano Ronaldo with me and I wish him all the best in his career - especially with Portugal, but also with his club."

“I probably also helped him and each of us to make history in winning the league with 100 points against the best Barcelona side in history,” he added.

When asked whether he would like to manage Real Madrid again, Mourinho said he hasn’t ruled it out.

“Yes, definitely. It was an experience as a man and as a coach that I would repeat again without thinking twice. You won't hear me talk about what happened in the past, whether it be positive or negative. I left Real Madrid with a fantastic relationship with the president, the executive director and the entire club after making a decision which was best for my career.”

Ronaldo was earlier linked with a move to Chelsea, and when asked about the speculation during the pre match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash against Swansea, Mourinho dismissed it with a simple: “Pfff... forget it."
