Promes has established himself as an integral part of Spartak Moscow and Netherlands team

Liverpool have emerged as one of the title contenders this season thanks to Jurgen Klopp's tactics and their attacking unit working relentlessly. Even though the Reds are currently on a free-scoring run which was slightly halted against Southampton yesterday, the German manager is keen to bolster his attacking options in the coming transfer window to make Liverpool stronger in the final third. Klopp's search has led him to Spartak Moscow as winger Quincy Promes is being linked to the club with a move in January.

The Reds suffered an injury blow last month in the form of Danny Ings who is set to miss the entirety of the current season and Sadio Mane who will be out for a month because of his national team duties in the African Cup of Nations. Mane is set to miss at least six games in January and February which include league clashes against Manchester United and Chelsea along with a potential EFL Cup semifinal.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Klopp is set to be monitoring Promes since August as the Dutchman is making headlines for his club Spartak Moscow scoring five goals and producing six assists in ten games which have propelled Moscow to the top of the table. He joined the Russian club in 2014 in a deal worth £13 million from his former club FC Twente. He has already amassed 36 goals and 19 assists in 74 appearances for his club.

Promes is a versatile player who can play anywhere behind the striker but looks most dangerous when played on the right wing. He likes to drift inside and make himself available. The 24-year-old has a stinging shot and more importantly a brilliant goal scoring record. He already has 16 caps for Netherlands and plays alongside Georginio Wijnaldum for his national team.

Liverpool will benefit from signing him as he can slot in directly in Mane's position when the Senegalese leaves for the AFCON. Luring him away would be difficult as Promes signed a new deal in August which keeps him at Spartak til 2021. His current wage is £55,000 per week and the Russian club values their asset at £25 million. The Reds are also rumoured to be interested in forward Sardar Azmoun who also plays in the Russian league for FC Rostov.
