The Football Association (FA) has revealed that Manchester United have spent the most on agents and intermediaries this season than any other Premier League club.
The FA released a statement on Friday which disclosed how much each top flight club paid to agents between October 1st last year and February 1st 2016.
The amount spent by Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United is ridiculous as they have spent close to £10 million to agents which is almost double the amount spent by any other Premier League club
United’s bitter rivals Liverpool are the second highest spenders having spent £ 6,672,713 which is £3.5 million lesser than Manchester United.
Manchester City were third with a total of £5,880,098, followed by a huge gap to the rest of the Premier League teams.
Arsenal were fourth on this list as well having spent £3,135,483, followed by fellow London clubs West Ham (£2,691,331), Tottenham (£2,562,853) and Chelsea (£2,214,227).
Premier League leaders Leicester City paid £936,004, while Roberto Martinez’s Everton side were the lowest spenders, paying just £471,400.
Van Gaal happy with Rooney’s and Rashford’s performance
Speaking about his captain’s performance after the match against Crystal Palace, manager Louis van Gaal said,” “He was the player who switched the play and I liked that very much.” The Dutch coach explained his reason for playing Rooney in midfield saying,” I don’t want to change Rashford so I have to look for another position for Wayne. He played there also last year. I am very happy with the way he performed."
Van Gaal further clarified saying,” 'No player has a fixed position, I use the players where I think they can give a higher contribution in a particular game. It was a midfield role tonight because of the way Crystal Palace were playing.”
Rooney’s form has been a major concern amongst the United faithful this season. His goal output has reduced drastically and has looked to be a shadow of the player that terrorized Premier League defences with only 13 goals in 35 appearances in all competitions this season. Marcus Rashford, the under-19 striker is now keeping Wayne Rooney out of his favoured role as a number 9.
Louis van Gaal will be hoping his team can replicate the attacking prowess they displayed against Crystal Palace against the Toffees as well in the crucial FA Cup semi-final clash.
