Manchester United tabled €150 million bid for Gareth Bale, says L'Equipe

French newspaper L’Equipe has claimed that Manchester United tabled a bid of around €150 million for Gareth Bale before the Welshman’s record move to Real Madrid.

“According to our sources, the identity of the club who attempted to sign the 24-year-old midfielder is none other than Manchester United, who made an offer close to 150 million euros,”the sport daily stated.

The reports come in wake of Carlo Ancelloti’s confirmation yesterday that Tottenham received higher bids for the 24-year old.

“I know that Tottenham had a higher bid than Real Madrid for Gareth Bale, but he wanted to play here and that’s what made the difference,” Ancelloti said yesterday.

The daily also said that Paris Saint-Germain was also in the scene for Bale and also offered him a higher salary than Real Madrid.
