Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho looks to add more pace and creativity on the wings. Thereby he has sent scouts to watch over Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Ferreira Carrasco and could make a move for him in the upcoming winter transfer window.

Reportedly, Mourinho has told the United hierarchy that his squad is not complete despite making four high-profile signings in the summer. United’s squad actually lacks a quality winger with likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford being deployed on the flanks.

According to the Mirror, the Portuguese mastermind has demanded extensive reports on Carrasco from his scouts as he looks to further strengthen the Red Devils’ squad. The Belgian fits the bill perfectly for Mourinho and would indeed be a spectacular signing.

The 23-year-old can play on either flank and also as a secondary striker and is a proven goal-scorer. He is pacey and has a trick or two up his sleeve to outwit his opponent and could easily replace Memphis Depay, who is expected to leave Old Trafford soon.

Carrasco has been a regular in the Belgian national side and has already notched up nine goals in 23 appearances this season. He joined Atletico in 2015 from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco for a reported fee of €20m and has been one of the key men in Diego Simeone’s side.

The €30m-rated winger has been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last couple of weeks. However, any move could potentially be difficult in the winter transfer window as Atletico will be involved in the Champions League and would not want a regular starter to leave midway.

Carrasco, who scored in the Champions League final last season for the Los Colochoneros, recently signed a contract extension until 2022 at Vicente Calderon which includes a massive buy-out clause of €100m. If any deal ultimately transpires, it would probably involve a huge transfer fee.

It was earlier reported that the 20-time Premier League champions were interested in bringing as many as three Atletico stars to Old Trafford including Carrasco, Antoine Griezmann and Jose Gimenez.

Manchester United have also been linked with a move for West Ham United star Dimitri Payet and there have been rumours of even a conspiracy to sign Barcelona legend Lionel Messi in the last few weeks.
