With 4 goals in 4 games for Manchester United in the Premier League, Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already made a prolific impact at the club.

According to The Mirror, the Red Devils could hand Ibrahimovic a new long-term contract after the player impressed the club’s bosses with his outstanding fitness, faring better than many young players at the club. Ibrahimovic joined Manchester United on a free transfer back in July after signing a one-year deal with an option to extend for another year.

The potential deal can see the striker not only get the one-year extension but add up another year on top of that. The Red Devils believe that Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be the club's talisman just like Eric Cantona back in the days.

Astonishingly Ibrahimovic had promised on his arrival at Old Trafford that he would break every training record at the club. And so he did, posting better times and covering more distance than players a decade younger to him in training. His standing jump alone was measured to be twenty percent higher than any player ever recorded at the club. Zlatan’s outstanding physical fitness is not surprising since the player never really suffered any critical or long-term injuries in the past.

In fact, Zlatan has been so impressive that the club is willing to reconsider signing any further long term replacements like Neymar Jr and Gareth Bale. In the past, United were linked with a move to bring their former superstar Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club whilst also closely monitoring ex-Tottenham player Gareth Bale.

But their ambition of signing these superstars was thwarted after Real Madrid failed to overturn their transfer ban. After bringing in players worth over £150 million like Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Eric Bailly in the summer, it is highly unlikely that club will be making any further signings in the near future. However, the club is willing to part ways with former German international and World Cup winner Bastian Schweinsteiger in January if any suitable club makes an approach for the midfield legend.

Zlatan was initially seen as a temporary fix by Jose Mourinho after the two reunited for the first time since their days at Inter Milan. But after personally witnessing the player’s physical strength and fitness, Mourinho might just want to keep the big man at the club for a further few seasons than he initially planned.
