Mohun Bagan team, officials and their fans are all looking up to this man who could turn things around for the Mariners. AIFF secretary Praful Patel is the man of the moment for Mohun Bagan. It has now come down to this one man in the All India Football Federation committee who will be deciding the fate of Mohun Bagan in tomorrow’s meeting.
Patel can single handedly change the fate of Mohun Bagan in the upcoming core committee meeting which was first slated to be held on 9th January but was rescheduled to be held in 15th January, taking into consideration the case of Mohun Bagan.
He can lift the 2 year ban from Mohun Bagan and force them to play in the second division of the I-League from the next season. He can also impose a ban only on the Mohun officials for making such a stupid decision and bar them from attending any of the AIFF meetings for a year, while allowing Mohun Bagan to make a fresh start.
Patel can also substitute the ban in years in terms of a large amount of fine. In short, he can do whatever he wants with the ban’s structure according to his whims and fancies.
On 15th January at the Udyog Bhavan in New Delhi, there is a chance that one of the above possibilities might become true. The total core members are 19 amongst which 16 are being lenient with Mohun Bagan. Some of the people from the above list are Dempo‘s Srinivasan Dempo, Ankur Dutta and Sikkim’s Larsing Ming.
One of the anonymous sources have revealed that only one man’s decision matters the most and it is that of the AIFF president, Praful Patel. The source said, “Praful is the one who’s decision matters the most. He will have a meeting with the AIFF lawyers about what could be the possible outcomes if the ban of Mohun Bagan is lifted.”
Praful Patel will be returning from England today and will be attending the meeting tomorrow.
