The successful Italian manager will be seen playing a doctor in a sci-fi film.

Before he joins Bayern Munich this season, Carlo Ancelotti has made a surprise announcement that has nothing to do with football. Speaking to Sky Sports, the Italian manager revealed that he will be doing a cameo in the latest film in the Star Trek series. Ancelotti will play the role of a doctor in the third installment of Star Trek that is slated to be released on 22nd July, 2016.

The former Real Madrid Manager also threw light on how he landed the role in the science fiction movie. Talking to Sky Sports, he said “The husband of actress Zoe Saldana [who will play ‘Uhura’ in the move] is Italian and I have a good relationship with the family. They were in Vancouver to film the movie and they asked me to come and watch. I went, spoke to the director [Justin Lin] and he said "I'll put you in - small part".'

The third installment in the reboot series after Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) will be directed by Justin Lin. The movie is based on the series of the same name created by Gene Roddenberry. It is the thirteenth film in the Star Trek film franchise that will see Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto reprise their roles as Captain James T. Kirk and Commander Spock, with Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin reprising their roles from the previous films, and Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella joining them.

The film will make its global premiere in an open-air IMAX event at this year's San Diego Comic-Con on July 20 and is due for general release on July 22.

However, the Italian will have his task cut out in his new role as he takes over the reins of Bayern Munich from Pep Guardiola. In his three years at Allianz Arena, Guardiola, who is now getting ready for his role at Manchester City, made heavy changes to the squad. However, Ancelotti, who has won the Champions League three times, twice with AC Milan and once with Real Madrid, has made it clear that he isn’t interested in chopping and changing much as he is happy with the current lot.
