Laura Wareham, Newcastle United women’s goalkeeper wishes to keep on playing inspite of having suffered a suspected broken neck for the second time. The 21-year-old injured herself in the first half of their 3-2 defeat by Bradford on Sunday and kept on playing before finally been substituted from the game.

The goalkeeper, who had broken her neck in 2011, had an X-ray which revealed another break, but a CT scan came out clear.
In an interview to BBC Newcastle, Wareham wished to back soon on the football field. "I can't wait to be back, it doesn't scare me. I just cannot wait to get my boots on and gloves on and get back training with the girls," she said.
Wareham is scheduled to meet a neurologist next Tuesday to asses her X-rays and hopes that the injury turns out to be just a ligament damage as per the CT scan. She is currently having a hard collar for safety. The episode which involved Wareham, Newcastle defender Kate Brooks and a Bradford forward looked harmless at first, with both players on the field receiving medical assistance and only Brooks leaving the field for treatment.
"I was more concerned about my defender Kate because her nose was pouring with blood," remarked Wareham.
"The physiotherapist came to me as she thought I'd hyper-extended my neck and I carried on playing not thinking anything of it, but there was no back pain or neck pain.
"I felt really dazed, caught the ball and then had a sudden pain up my back - they stopped the game but I was really angry to come off." The brave footballer concluded.
Wareham played on for five or six minutes after the collision before being taken off only when she complained of pain in her ribs which disabled her to kick the ball. She then fell down twice while coming off and again tumbled in the dressing room after the game at Northumbria University.
